if you already have the money don't waste it on the JRSC for your d16...not a good choice for the sohc's. Many disappointed d16 owners here including me. I'd either go hybrid or wait for something better to come out. Haven't heard much on the Vortech other than it will make more power. Would rigorously research it though. I think the d16 model blowers get released in the spring. In my opinion, it is worth the wait.

I will second the vote as far as not buying a blower for a d16. mine has gone.

now if its d16a6, thats a different story. d16z6 and d16y8 (sohc vtec) apps suck ass tho.

why so down on the SOHC vtec's v. sohc non-vtec's? both have a lot of potential with a JRSC...

cmon even phil admits the d16a6 runs better than d16z6 with blower. he has the endyn mods. then theres shawn church that got like 160something before zdyne with just exhaust and Water injection at 6psi on a d16a6.

who has gotten decent gains out of the d16z6/d16y8 with a JR blower?

I installed a JRSC on a d16z6 a couple of months ago. It doesn't pull like a GSR with a JRSC, but I was still quite impressed. Very driveable throughout the operating range and much quicker than it was before the install.

The Vortech won't have the broad powerband and driveability that the JRSC has, making it disappointing for many folks who enjoy driving their cars on the street. I know I get a kick out of the awesome throttle response and strong torque from under 2K RPM right up to redline.

yeah but for those of us with built motors, a jrsc don't exactly put it to good use. unless you dumped a bunch of nitrous in there.

a very good choice for stock motor though, I will agree. well except for the d16z6 part dammit! you just gotta buy a used one like Bigkat did (hey where is he btw?).

We're in agreement. I guess my point is that we shouldn't shoot down the JRSC on the d16z6 without knowing what the goals are.
